ABOUT US

Our Story: From the Battlefield Frontlines to Our Community Lifelines

At Soldier Medic CPR, we don’t just teach lifesaving skills—we’ve lived them. Owned and operated by three former U.S. Army Combat Medics, our mission is to bring the absolute highest standard of BLS, CPR, and First Aid training to civilian communities, healthcare professionals, and military installations alike. We translate decades of high-stakes, battlefield medical experience into practical, confident classroom training.

The Brotherhood Begins

Our journey started back in 2008 at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, where Jason Martinez and Roberto Castro first met as trainees with the 232nd Medical Battalion, home of the Soldier Medic. Over the next decade, their military careers took them across the globe. They remained close friends and brothers throughout their entire time in uniform, staying connected across continents and deployments while serving on the frontlines of critical care:

Jason Martinez

served with the 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss (deploying to Iraq), the legendary 173rd Airborne in Germany (deploying to Afghanistan), and later managed high-level operations for Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC). He ultimately returned to his roots at the 232nd Medical Battalion, serving as cadre to train the next generation of Soldier Medics.

Roberto Castro

served with the iconic 1st Cavalry Division out of Fort Hood (deploying twice to Iraq), served as a Medical Platoon Squad Leader in Korea, was special duty assigned as an Army Medical Department (AMEDD) recruiter in Las Vegas, and led troops through a deployment to Korea as a Medical Platoon Sergeant with the 1st Armored Division before retiring from active duty in 2024.

Expanding the Mission

Sarah Martinez

In 2018, the team grew when Jason and Sarah met while serving in the 7210th Medical Support Unit. Also a seasoned 68W Combat Medic, Sarah’s expertise expanded into military medical logistics, bringing crucial operational strategy to the table. Jason and Sarah were married in 2019, settling permanently in San Antonio after separating from the Army in 2023.

Teaching...

Is woven into the very fabric of an Army Medic's DNA. Between teaching First Aid and Combat Lifesaver (CLS) courses to hundreds of U.S. and foreign soldiers over their careers, and Jason's additional duty assignment as a Battalion AHA BLS Instructor in Germany, our founders have spent thousands of hours commanding classrooms and building resilient lifesavers.

In 2025...

Jason renewed his civilian instructor credentials with the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Red Cross (ARC). Working alongside Sarah, a vision began to form: "Why not bring combat-medic-level preparedness directly to the people who need it most?"

Jason and Sarah recognized a critical gap...

Not only did their local Texas communities need superior training, but the heavily regulated military bases they called home—daycares, gyms, healthcare facilities, and federal contractors on post—required rigorous, compliant certifications from instructors who truly understood the environment.

They pitched the master plan to Roberto—who was in the process of becoming a Texas State Trooper. He recognized the profound impact they could make together. He joined forces with them, and Soldier Medic CPR was officially born.
